Jesus says, “Come to me…learn of me”
How can we
come to him and learn about him?
Jesus was “with God and he was God” but he
emptied himself and took the form of man and lived among men so that we could
see the “glory as of the only begotten of the father, full of grace and truth.”
And we are instructed to learn to think like Jesus. “Have
this mind in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” In order for us to be able to do this we have
to have someone who is like us so we can follow him. Jesus had to become like
us in every respect so we could know that he understands our weakness.
He was made just like us and he was tempted in every way we
are tempted but he did not agree with the lusts and desires of his flesh. Instead
he said “not my will but thine be done.”
Not only is it God’s will that we become like Jesus; He also
made it possible by giving us the perfect high priest who understands our every
weakness. And he has shown us so we can understand how true this is and begin
to get an idea of how great and wonderful it is.
As we look back at the wonderful thoughts from the last 6
days let us become very happy.
Think about these words from 2 Peter 1:3-4
According
as his divine power has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him
that has called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding
great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine
nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Praise, honor and glory be yours always, Heavenly Father for the
wonderful gift of salvation that results in transformation and being conformed
to be like your wonderful son Jesus. Expand our understanding to see how
unspeakably wonderful and precious this gift is. The forgiveness of sins and
the transformation to be like Jesus, in whose wonderful name I pray. Amen.
Very bright and very loud fireworks should be included
here.
